About
Matt Peterson
And
Voodoo Resins

Matt Peterson, owner and operator of Voodoo Resins got his start when his brother (a frustrated knife maker) wasn’t happy with the resin-based knife scales he was getting that had aluminum honeycomb core in them.  They were brittle and where the aluminum honeycomb met the resin they would break apart.

With a technical background in aircraft composites and quality control Matt set out with the idea to create a better resin-based product that had the correct bonding application, using high end US made aluminum honeycomb core at a competitive price.

With little convincing he borrowed 500.00 from his brother, bought a pressure pot, a few different brands of resin and acquired some aluminum honeycomb core and started testing.

In the end Voodoo Resins was born in 2015 and has been a leader in resin-based knife scale material, pen blanks and vaping materials ever since.

Matt holds a degree in Business Quality Management, Operations Management and Industrial Engineering.  He has been ISO 9000 certified and holds a Black Belt in Six Sigma as well as years of training in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen.  Currently Matt is the Packaging Engineer for a major petroleum automotive company in the Midwest.

Matt’s background allows Voodoo Resins to have sustainable and repetitive process for each piece of material he makes.  Meticulous record keeping and only buying raw materials that are certified and batch controlled, Matt is able to produce a product that is dependable as well as unique.

For the last 6 years Voodoo Resins has grown to be one of the leading manufactures of knife scales in the US and overseas.  In 2017 Voodoo Resins was featured in Blade Magazine, in 2019 Voodoo Resins scales were also featured on the cover of Blade Magazines annual “Knives 2019” along with features in most other knife magazines on a monthly basis.

With the success of Voodoo Resins Matt has also stepped outside of the resin industry and created Voodoo Resins Knifework’s which has two production knives available, the Jinx friction folder and the Solstice fixed blade fighter.  The Voodoo Resins EDC line is full of SFK designs and bottle openers and unique packaging to set his products apart.

Matt would like to take Voodoo Resins into bigger markets, he currently supplies places like Knife Kits and Premium Knife Supply but would like to expand that into gun manufacturing and well as larger knife companies.
